AKSUM: gas, security, governance.
AKSUM is the native token of Aksum Network. Its job is to run the network — not to promise yield.
Continuity, decided on-chain
AKSUM is not a new token. It is the network’s native token under its new name — same ledger, same holders, no new issuance, no migration contract, nothing to claim and nothing to do. The renaming is enacted the only way a network without an owner can decide anything: through on-chain democracy referenda, voted by token holders and executed at protocol level.
What AKSUM does
Gas
Every transaction on Aksum — settlement, transfers, governance — is paid in AKSUM.
Staking
Validators bond AKSUM to secure the chain; nominators back validators they trust. Staking secures settlement for every market on Mitra.
Governance
AKSUM holders direct the on-chain treasury and protocol upgrades through public, rule-based proposals.
What changes, what doesn't
Changes: the name and ticker, the brand around the network, and the flagship venue built on it. Doesn't change: the ledger, balances, validator set, staking positions, and governance history. Referendum text and results will be linked here once on-chain.
Treasury under governance
Allocations for liquidity and incentives come from the on-chain treasury via public governance proposals — transparent, rule-based, visible to anyone.
What this page is not
Nothing on this page is an offer to sell or a solicitation to buy any token or security. AKSUM is a utility token; its functions are gas, staking, and governance.
