One chain, one purpose: settlement.

Most chains are general-purpose computers that also settle trades. Aksum is a sovereign Substrate-based Layer 1 designed around one workload — final settlement for non-custodial finance: spot and leveraged trading, perpetuals, liquidity mining, lending, tokenized assets, remittances, and fiat exchange.

Continuity

A live network, not a launch

Aksum is the new name of a sovereign network that has run in production for years — adopted by its token holders through on-chain democracy referenda. The validator set continues. The ledger continues. Sudo keys were removed long ago: no single company, foundation, or person owns or controls this chain — including us. Mitra Labs builds on Aksum; it does not own it.

How the stack fits together

Mitra Engine — off-chain matching

Orders match in a high-performance engine running inside trusted execution environments: sub-second order handling, limit and market orders, and front-running resistance because matching never touches the public mempool. Independently audited before mainnet.

Aksum runtime — on-chain settlement

Every balance change lands on-chain. Users hold their keys through the entire lifecycle; the venue never takes custody. Staked validators secure the chain; governance directs the treasury.

Hyperbridge — cross-chain

Trustless deposits and withdrawals across Polkadot, Ethereum, and beyond — no wrapped-asset custodians, no multisig bridge risk.

Compliance Surface

Identity hooks, at protocol level

Identity and allow-list hooks are built into the runtime — not bolted on. Markets that need eligibility screening (tokenized securities, institutional pools) can enforce it at protocol level while staying non-custodial.
